Announcement of changes to the Board of Directors

As we head into 2021, Space Engineering Services will be saying farewell to a fantastic servant and simultaneously strengthening the Board of Directors.

Charles Murphy
After 15 years of outstanding service, Charles has decided to move on from Space Engineering and pursue a new challenge.  Working closely with both John Hollingdale and me, Charles has been instrumental in managing the finances of the business extremely effectively over his tenure as Finance Director. Charles, with his superb team, not only produce very reliable information within days of the period end but also enable us to have very clear forecasts, enabling us to plan and prepare for the future.  Without his absolute dedication and professionalism, our business would not be in the healthy position it is now. Charles has agreed to work his notice period until April 2021, and we are in the process of recruiting a new Finance Director. We are very grateful to Charles for his enormous contribution to the business and his excellent support during this period of transition.

Other Changes
As a Board, we have also been looking to strengthen our experience and breadth of focus, and I am pleased to announce the following appointments, who will be joining John, Roger Mapperley, Paul Salmon, Pete and myself.

Diane Abrahams – People & Development Director
Our people are critical to the overall performance of our business.  The Board has felt, for some time, that we need to have the interests of our people directly represented at board level and we are delighted that Diane has agreed to accept this promotion.  Since joining us in 2020, Diane has introduced real energy into what was our HR team and has defined and delivered a significant change agenda.  I am looking forward to seeing this energy and professionalism brought on to the Board.

Richard Pearson – Service & Maintenance Director
Richard has been with Space Engineering for 14 years and has significant operational experience and a reputation for delivering for our customers.  With the retail sector forming a crucial part of our business, it makes total sense to appoint Richard to the Board to ensure that we maximise our retail sector performance.

Peter Terry – Business Development & Marketing Director
Pete joined us in 2019, and his experience and energy have brought about real change to our operational functions.  At a time when we are looking to drive growth and win new business, I have asked Pete to alter his focus and use his varied experience to boost our business development and marketing functions in support of this.  I know that Pete will give his all in this role and, along with his team, develop relationships with new customers and strengthen Space Engineering’s reputation in the areas we want to develop.

I am pleased to be able to announce these new appointments and changes in focus.  They will help to develop further the legacy that Charles and others have helped to build.
