Business Update – Coronavirus (COVID-19)

With the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) continuing to accelerate, and the Government escalating restrictions, we want to take the opportunity of communicating an outline of how we are handling the situation.

As a business, from the very outset of the virus, we decided that our best approach is to follow the Government’s advice.  We believe that this remains the case, especially in the wake of the Prime Minister’s direction from Monday 23rd March.

Following this escalation, we have moved to the highest stage of our defined COVID-19 plan, with the members of our Engineering Board now holding daily calls, to ensure that we are acting in the best possible interests of our colleagues, customers and supply-chain partners.

Our mission remains to ensure that our business continues to meet the requirements of our customers, as we are an integral part of the supply chain, with acknowledged key-working job roles which help to provide food to the general public.  Without our very best efforts, food retail in the UK will be significantly affected.

We can state that at present we have no confirmed cases within our business and our very best efforts are going into ensuring that this remains unchanged for as long as possible.  At this moment we have several colleagues who are in self-isolation as a precaution, as per the Government’s advice.  We are, however, seeing colleagues returning to work, having been given the all-clear.

Our supply chain and sub-contractors are continuing to perform well, with no significant problems currently encountered.  We are expecting to see challenges in the weeks to come, but are working as closely as possible to minimise the impact.

As ever, we are ready to work with all of our customers as proactively as possible and are poised to adapt our focus and support in line with their needs.

Some significantly challenging times lay ahead for us all personally and as an industry, but we are confident that with all of our very best efforts, we will continue to operate at the very highest level.
