Yeo Valley Embraces Natural Refrigeration Solution with CO₂

Yeo Valley has been producing yogurt since 1974, and since then has broadened their dairy product offering to include butter, milk, cream and ice cream. Sustainable farming is an integral part of their business and Yeo Valley’s cows and crops are farmed organically to protect the environment. So it was no surprise that when it came to choosing plant for their blast chiller they wanted to introduce a natural refrigeration solution.

We manufactured and installed our powerful yet compact ECO₂ Maxi at Yeo Valley’s Blagdon site, not far from our head office in Bristol. The ECO₂ Maxi is powered using refrigerant R744 (CO₂) and capable of producing around 268kW of cooling demand at -16oC evaporating temperature, meeting the blast chiller’s high cooling demand for short spells. The pack was also fitted with optional heat reclaim and housed in an acoustic enclosure to minimise noise.

Cooling with CO₂ is becoming more and more widespread. As a naturally occurring gas with excellent cooling properties, CO₂ also has impressive environmental credentials and a wide application range. This, coupled with its compliance with all current F-gas Regulations, makes the ECO₂ Maxi a commercially viable and sustainable option for most refrigeration system owners. Meeting Yeo Valley’s cooling needs isn’t new to us.
